I'm taking a slight detour from the Purpose topics for this month because I want to talk about the power within and why it's so important.We have an immense power that lives in us but for many, that power seemingly lies dormant. What is the power I'm talking about? It's more about WHO than what. The bible tells us that we have the Holy Spirit, Jesus AND Father God dwelling within. Erm…what could be more powerful than that?!When we tap into that power and make it our reality, we see things differently. We see ourselves as victors rather than victims. We look to moving the earth rather than the earth moving us. We stand firm in the truth of who we are and are not easily uprooted.Now, many of us are aware that the Holy Spirit lives in us because we are told that He is given as a guarantee, He's our Helper and Teacher and through Him we have access to many things. 2 Corinthians 5:5 ESV He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.There are so many verses about Holy Spirit living with us, being with us. 2 Timothy 1:14 ESV By the Holy Spirit who dwells within us, guard the good deposit entrusted to you. Being just one of those verses but let's not forget the words of Jesus who said "All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them." John 14:23 NLTWe forget that by the power of the beautiful Holy Spirit, we have the trinity dwelling within. Trinity is not a biblical word but we all know what I mean when I use it! In fact there are many things that may not be in the bible - doesn't make them untrue or not of worth but that's another teaching altogether!I want you to take a deep breath and focus on the fact that Jesus and Father God have made the decision to live in you. Yes you! With all your quirks, failures and living below your potential. Jesus is the lover of your soul.We tend to disqualify ourselves from being worthy for all sorts of reasons but take a deep breath again and meditate on this: Jesus is the lover of your soul!Let me tell you why that's so profound and so beautiful. He loves you for you.We are triune just like the trinity - we are body, soul and spirit - all are separate but one, just like the trinity!The words "Lover of my soul" are not in the bible either but the inference is there throughout: Isaiah 38:17 Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back. KJVYour soul is made up of your mind, will, emotions - yep all those things that you give yourself a hard time about! Jesus LOVES your soul! He is the lover of your soul - that's most intimate. Please meditate on that because it's so freeing. He loves you for you, He made you. Might you need to fix up on some things? Sure! Don't we all?! But it's a process, don't delay your journey.Whilst your living below your God-given potential, giving yourself a hard time over every little mistake and believing you're not worthy, Jesus is right there hands outstretched waiting for you to COME AS YOU ARE on an adventure!Might you be changed on the adventure, no doubt (!!) but being changed is not a pre-requisite to actually start.Make a start, one step at a time and He will honour that. How might you start? Make a decision to spend more time making Him a reality in your life - spend time getting to know His character and nature, soak, worship, speak in tongues, listen to what He is saying personally to you - learn to hear His Voice if you've never done that and spend time with others who DO hear Him, read the bible, read other inspiring literature that point to His Majesty, be inspired again - there really is so much you can do to start the journey.It's time to stop living as one who has a form of godliness but no power and move into who you really are. Don't let your feelings of unworthiness or unbelief or bad experience stop you from living from the power within.
